Risks
- The buds and flowers of the bleeding heart are toxic to dogs as they contain isoquinoline alkaloids. Consuming the plant puts dogs at risk of manifesting diarrhea, lack of body coordination, respiratory issues, and seizures.
- Excessive ingestion of the bleeding heart can cause irreparable liver and kidney damage in dogs.
