- All parts of the cape jasmine contain poisonous compounds such as crocetin, glycosides, genioposide, gardenoside, and saponins. The plant’s berries, flowers, and foliage contain the highest toxic concentrations.
- If dogs ingest the cape jasmine, they may experience stomach problems like nausea, stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea. Severe symptoms such as heart arrhythmia, convulsions, and coma may occur if the plant is eaten in large amounts.
