- While dichelostemma or firecracker flower is technically non-toxic to dogs, caution must still be exercised when adding this plant to a dog-friendly garden. This plant is not a suitable food option for dogs and eating too many of its vibrant flowers and long leaves may lead to unpleasant but mild gut problems.
