- All parts of the ragwort plant is considered to be poisonous. Its toxic substance is pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which poses more danger to grazing animals. If dogs accidentally eat ragwort even in small amounts, they can experience gastrointestinal upset, weakness, and depression. Eating it in large amounts may lead to liver damage and death.
