- Sowbread contains terpenoid saponins that can cause poisoning in dogs if eaten. The toxins are highly concentrated in the tubers and roots of the plant.
- Dogs that ingested sowbread may suffer from clinical symptoms of poisoning like vomiting, diarrhea, and hypersalivation. Severe toxicity may induce heart arrhythmia and seizures.
