Caution. While fragrant sumac berries are eaten by other mammals and wild birds, no research has been conducted on their impact on dogs. The plant's sap could also cause skin allergies or rashes in dogs.
Can dogs eat Fragrant sumac berries?
Risks
- The fruit is used culinaryly in cake making etc. It is also consumed by wild turkeys, grouse, many other birds and small mammals ; however, there are no direct studies that have been done on the suitability of feeding fragrant sumac berries to dogs.
- Although no cases have been recorded, the sap of the fragrant sumac plant might cause a skin rash or trigger allergies in dogs, as it happens to some humans.
