Risks

Servings
- Dogs can be given coconut oil with meals, one to two times a day.
- For small dogs, give 1/4 teaspoon (daily), and for big dogs, give 1 tablespoon (15 mL) (daily), gradually increasing the amount.
- After 2 weeks, increase the dose to 1 teaspoon per 10 pounds (5 mL per 4.5 kg) of body weight if the dog tolerates it well.
- Avoid giving coconut oil more than once a day to overweight or obese dogs.
- Mix coconut oil with the dog's regular food, and never feed it to the dog alone.
- For topical use, rub a small amount onto your hands, gently pat the dog's coat, and massage it into the skin.
