- The common honeysuckle has naturally occurring glycosides and saponins, which are toxic to dogs. They are present in the flowers and stems of this plant.
- If ingested by dogs, the common honeysuckle can evoke stomach discomfort, vomiting, and diarrhea. In severe cases, coma, weakness, and bone rupture may potentially happen.
- The berries produced by the honeysuckle contain carotenoids, which can cause stomach irritation if consumed in large amounts by dogs.
