- The kalanchoe contains a variety of cardiac glycoside toxins called cardenolides and bufadienolides. Even in small doses, it can cause severe poisoning in canines.
- If ingested, the kalanchoe plant can induce depression, slow heart rate, cardiac arrhythmias, and seizures in dogs.
- The kalanchoe’s flowers become more toxic than its leaves, roots, or stems during summer.
