Risks
- The manchineel tree’s sap is highly poisonous and is used to make poison arrows. Exposure to the sap can be lethal to dogs.
- All parts of the manchineel tree including its leaves, bark, and seeds are toxic to dogs. When ingested or touched, they can induce gastrointestinal distress, blisters, and temporary blindness.
- Burning the tree produces smoke that can irritate the eyes, which can also potentially cause vision loss in dogs.
