- All parts of the rosary pea contain the toxins abrin and abric acid. Its seeds have the highest concentration of these toxic compounds, making them extremely poisonous to dogs.
- Consumption of the rosary pea plant can induce abdominal cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, and fast heart rate. In severe cases, tremors and shock may occur.
