Risks
- All parts of the tung tree contain glycoside and phytotoxin that have caused poisoning in humans. While the plant is not yet known to be poisonous to dogs, its toxic properties should not be ignored.
- Out of all parts of the plant, its seeds are reported to be the most fatal. Ingesting them can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, and breathing difficulties.
- Dermal exposure to the leaves of the tung tree can induce contact dermatitis.
