Risks
- The string of pearls contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which makes the plant toxic to dogs. Ingesting it can cause diarrhea, hypersalivation, vomiting, and nausea. In severe cases, liver failure may incur.
- The sap of a string of pearls has a skin irritant that can induce inflammation, itching, pain, and rashes on the skin of dogs when touched.
