Risks
- The toyon’s fruit contains cyanogenic glycosides that convert to poisonous cyanides in the mouths of humans and horses. The risk of toxicity to dogs remains unknown but there is a possibility that the toyon plant can cause poisoning in dogs.
- The leaves and fruits of the toyon also contain tannins, which are toxic to animals.
