- The deadly webcap is highly toxic to dogs because the manifestation of its poisoning symptoms is often delayed. They may appear around 2-14 days after ingestion.
- The deadly webcap contains the toxins orellanine and orelline, which can cause the kidneys to swell abnormally.
- Canines that ingested deadly webcaps may lack appetite and become lethargic. They can suffer from vomiting and diarrhea too. Delayed treatment will inevitably lead to fatal renal failure.
- The deadly webcap can be commonly found in North America and is often mistaken for the edible Chanterelle mushroom.
