- The toxin protoanemonin is present in all parts of the Persian buttercup including its fruits, flowers, leaves, and sap.
- Consuming any part of the plant can cause a burning sensation in the mouth, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and stomachache in dogs.
- Skin exposure to the plant can cause skin inflammation and painful blisters in dogs.
